Salomon Kalou,20, the younger brother of Ivory Coast’s captain Bonaventure Kalou has struck a deal with Chelsea.
Amazingly Salomon doesn’t want to play for Ivory Coast and in fact had his bid for dutch citizenship
turned down, thus closing the door for him to appear in Germany for the World Cup.
Kalou revealed the role ex-Stamford Bridge player and manager Ruud Gullit played in the move.
“Of course I asked Ruud Gullit about Chelsea and I told him too I am proud I can follow at Chelsea in his footsteps. He is the one that gave me the chance at Feyenoord after all.
“I’m not afraid of the competition at Chelsea. I will give everything I can in London too to have success. I believe in myself. You must always try to get the best out of yourself. I will become a better player there.
An undisclosed fee has been agreed with the Dutch club for a striker who has scored 35 goals in 67 games over the last two seasons, plus four in seven UEFA Cup appearances.
He has signed a 3 year deal with Chelsea and will get to play for his new club against his old in the very near future at the Feyenoord-Chelsea match that had been arranged to be played at the start of the season.
