Maximiliano ‘Maxi’ Rodriguez was an important player for Argentina in their successful 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship campaign, scoring four goals, including one in the final.

He started his career at Newell’s Old Boys, moved to Real Zaragoza in Spain and then switched to Espanyol. Maxi, who can play as a forward or an attacking midfielder, played in his first FIFA World Cup™ qualifier as a substitute in a 4-2 win over Uruguay in late 2004.

A year later he featured for Argentina at the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup. Joined his current club, Atletico Madrid, that same summer.
