brazil
15..here i come…

It really was as easy as the scoreline suggest 3-0 to Brazil.I expected more from the Ghanians but props to them for trying hard even though it was always going to be hard to play against the World Champion without Michael Essien in their ranks.

The likes of Appiah,Amoah,Kingston,Gyan,Mensah,Muntari and co can take heart that they have done African football no harm with their style of play, sportsmanship and hardwork, besides Australia,Ghana is the team that really amazed me, a definite team to watch in the coming years and most definitely in the next World Cup *if they qualify*.

But today was not going to be their day,for today the World Champions Brazil decided to flex their muscles a little…yes i say ‘a little’ because there’s much much more to be expected of this talented Brazilian side.

Just 5 minutes from the first whistle and Brazil were already in front as Ronaldo not only placed the Brazilians in the driving seat but also inked his name into the record books with his 15th goal in all World Cup matches…the previous record was 14,held by German legend Gerd Muller.Much is made of the effect Ronaldo’s weight has had on his game. But his mind and feet remain quick if nothing else.

Ghana seemed to have had their tactics all messed up, trying to play the offside trap against the Brazilians which didn’t prove effective, becuase all 3 of Brazil’s goal came from their offside trap mistake. Can you really play the offside trap against Ronaldinho,Ronaldo,Kaka and Roberto Carlos?..well the question was well answered by Brazil today,no doubts about that, even Matthew Amoah admitted it after the game when he was interviewed, he said ” We tried to play the offside trap against Brazil, but they have shown they have more experience than us…it was very hard”.

Double Trouble

The whole Brazilian team deserved credit even the subs than came on (Juninho,Ricardinho),they played beautifully well ans were always in control of the game, you felt as if they could score at will if it need be.

They enjoyed the game!

The second goal that was scored by Adriano is a little bit controversial,he appeared to be offside two times before tapping in Cafu’s cross from the right, that angered Ghana;s coach Dujkovic who gave a mouthful to the referee and was red carded..sending him to the stands.

With the cushion of a second, Brazil were able to play with greater freedom than at probably any stage in competition.

Unsurprisingly, Ronaldinho was at the heart of most Brazilian moves, setting up Roberto Carlos for a shot Kingson saved with his legs, then forcing the Ghana keeper to head clear as he tried to find Ze Roberto with a sublime chipped pass. Ronaldo, Cafu and Juan all might have added to Brazil’s tally at the death.

Substitute Ricardinho produced a superb cross to Ze Roberto who was once again a benificiary of the offside trap to score Brazil’s third goal.

This is what it’s all about..Brazil in full flow..the World Cup has just begun for me..:D

oooops..off now to catch the Spain v France game.
