Is this a sign of things to come?

Franck Ribery was an unused substitute in Marseille’s 0-0 draw against newly promoted Sedan in the opening Ligue 1 game.

Sedan, back in the top flight after three seasons in the Ligue 2, had the best chance in a dull game when striker Masour Boutabout hit the woodwork on 20 minutes.

Olympique Lyon, chasing an unprecedented sixth successive title, lead the standings thanks to their 3-1 win at Nantes on Friday.

Ribery has appreantly asked to be on the transfer list and it looks like Marseille are giving the french youngster his wish. They would definitely want a fair price for him and playing him in the opening game would have been a risk especially if he was injured in it (think Carrick ;) ).

It is rumored that Arsenal, Manchester United, Internazionale and Olympique Lyonnais are intrested in signing the energetic midfield man.

I dont honestly think Man Utd will go for him, they don’t really need creative players right now, they desperately need a hardman in the mould of Keano,Vieira and Makelele.

Arsenal seems like a fantastic destination for Ribery, he would link up with French team mate Thiery Henry and the Gunner’s style and brand of play would really (i believe) be appealing to him.

I don’t think he will go to Inter, the midfield section over there is over-crowded as it is.

Lyon is a real possibilty though, it’s still in France and he would be playing for the current reigning Champion and their style of play will also be appealing to him.

The question now is does Arsenal have cash to burn? Arsene Wenger denies he has much $$ left, but amazingly bought the untried Theo Walcott for a hefty sum..so you’ll just never know would you?

By the way, i did a little research and discovered that the very appreant scar on Ribery’s face was sustained when he was 2 years old, he was thrown through the windshield in a car crash that resulted in scars on the right side of his face and his forehead.
