This has got to be the joke of the season as Manchester United duo Rooney and Scholes have been given a 3 match ban and will miss the Premiership games against Charlton, Watford and Tottenham, although they will be eligible for the season-opener against Fulham on Sunday.
The ban was imposed after both players received red cards against Porto in the pre-season Amsterdam Tournament.
The United pair were dismissed by Dutch referee Ruud Bossen against Porto and an independent disciplinary commission has upheld Bossen’s decision.
I can’t understand the decision, it’s a total farce to impose suspension based on a such a tournament, futhermore Rooney’s straight Red was yet another blunder by the referee, i won’t argue with Scholes dismissal tho as i feel it was justified, but Rooney’s red wasn’t.
Sir Alex will be totally ticked off and will most probably head over to the transfer market for reinforcement up front (please….Tevez.. 
), Ferguson would have by now know how important 3 games is, that’s a massive 9 points up for grabs and since the Premiership is so competitive i’ll be suprise if he doesn’t spend $$ to bring in another 1 or 2 new faces before the game against Fulham.
