…..or so says Bayern Munich.
Bayern’s chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge claims Manchester United have ended their interest in Owen Hargreaves after his discussion with United’s David Gill during the Champions League group draw last night.
Hargreaves has openly stated his desire to move to Manchester and Rummenigge agrees with the midfielder but only after 2010.
Rummenigge insisted and reitirated that Bayern will not be selling their midfiled man in the near future no matter the price, this could be largely due to the fact that they have lost Ballack to Chelsea because i think they would have sold Hargreves had Ballack remained at Bayern.
United’s Sir Alex was even accused of ‘player tapping’ but Fergie has vehemently denied it.
“I have not spoken to the boy,” said the United manager.
“I have not read the comments and I know nothing about it but that is not right (that United made an illegal approach).”
I think United will give up the chase not so much so because they want to but because they have to, and i think they don’t want to strain the relatively good relantionship between the clubs not to mention the threat by Bayern to report United to Fifa.
Now i wonder who will Fergie buy now since Hargreves is a definite no-no…..hmmmmmm
Well it doesn’t really take long or a genius to figure out that the next target would very well be Carlos Tevez.
His agent Adrian Rucco said on Friday: “Tevez is very close to moving to an English club.”
That is a good hint as it gets cause besides Chelsea only United have that kind of buying power plus Tevez is known to be a United admirer especially after he played against United in a friendly with his previous club Boca Juniors in 2004.It is rumored that he had a quick chat with Sir Alex back than and has been an admirer since.
It is really a possibility considering Alan Smith will be back soon, now Smitty can play in a holding midfield role so that would eliminate the need for Hargreaves on the short run and maybe they can pursue him next year, alot can happen in 12 months.
So with Smitty in midfield alongside the likes of Scholes,Carrick,Park,Ronaldo,Giggs,Fletcher,O’ Shea,Richardson that would mean a striker would be a fantastic buy because in reality United do lack up front even though they won their first two games we got to think about the whole season here, if ever Rooney or Saha were to get injured at the same time United will be absolutely so toothless up-front.
And so i believe Tevez might just be a United player come 31st August 2006 and Alan Smith might be employed as a holding midfield man yet again…it’s a possibility…..
