Real president Ramon Calderon has confirmed that former England captain David Beckham has signed a contract that will keep him at Madrid till 2009, which would mean he will be at Real till he’s 34-years-old.
Calderon told the TV channel that the decision was taking purely on sporting terms even though Beckham’s marketing value is immense to Real.
I think it’s quite obvious that they are keeping him for marketing purposes only.What can Becks do actually? he’s been stripped of the captaincy, not in England’s team anymore and to quote the legendary George Best :
He cannot kick with his left foot, he cannot head a ball, he cannot tackle and he doesn’t score many goals. Apart from that he’s all right.
I wonder if he will quit after 2009 and concentrate oh his academy instead?
