Boro boss Gareth Southgate is delighted to have secured the services of Chelsea’s Roberth Huth and Real Madrid’s Jonathan Woodgate.

Huth arrives from Chelsea in a £6m deal while Jonathan Woodgate has arrived on a season long loan from Real Madrid.

Southgate moved quickly in the transfer market as the transfer window is set to close in 24 hours, and two defenders is just what the doctor ordered after watching Boro conceed 4 goals against Harry Redknapp’s Portsmouth.

“We have added two international defenders to our squad in one afternoon,” Southgate revealed. “That’s a significant coup for Middlesbrough and a big boost for everyone at the club.

But it is also possible than a contract could be handed out to yet another defender in the form of Portugese Abel Xavier who finishes his 1 year ban (september) for failing a drug test, he was a Boro player at the time of the ban and his contract was promptly canceled by Middlesbrough when the ban was imposed but it looks likely that Southgate will offer the 33-year-old another chance.

Transfer News are at it’s peak right now..let’s wait and see what else happens.
