In what must be a shock move, Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder has reached an agreement with Manchester United to take striker Giuseppe Rossi to the Toons, however it is only a loan deal and will expire in January 2007.

The 3 months or so spent at St James Park is intended to beefed up Rossi and to give him first team football as Michael Owen is out for the season, Rossi will be competing with new boy Obafemi Martins and Shola Ameobi.

When i first saw this news i was totally shocked, i mean i just woke up and all with coffee in hand and Boom! Rossi at Newcastle?, but after digesting the news i think it’s really quite a good move for Rossi,Newcastle and Man Utd.

Rossi will be pairing up with Martins, who maybe young but already has alot of experience, and with the Toons he will also get to mingle with the likes of Damien Duff and whoever is coming in before he transfer season closes, he will learn alot from his very very short stint with them.

Man Utd will profit because Rossi will almost certainly be playing first team football and according to terms in his loan deal he will not be able to play against Man Utd.

Now the question is…is there a new signing in the form of a striker in the horizon for Man Utd?
Well today is the last day for transfers so i guess we’ll know soon enough. ;)

However, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has agreed to let American-born Rossi play at St James’ Park in a deal which will run out on the first day of next year, with Louis Saha, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Wayne Rooney his attacking options at the moment.
