Ryan Giggs who prior to the game against Tottenham won the player on the month award (for the first time!!) continued his good form to score the only goal in an exciting game against Spurs at Old Trafford.
Utd were awarded a freekick in the middle of the park on the 8th minute and Cristiano Ronaldo totally bended the shot that it was impossible for England’s Robinson to catch as he could only push away to Giggs who duly accepted the ‘gift’ and scored with a header bounce in off the underside of the bar.
The win ensured Man Utd maintained their 100% record and overhauled Portsmouth - who had taken over at the top, albeit temporarily.Michael Carrick made his first appreance against his former club and was on impressive form with some very clever passes from the midfield and even helping out the defence once or twice.
Patrice Evra has continued his excellent form down the left and i think it would be harder for Heinze than it used to be.Wes Brown had a great game too, marshalling the defence with total confidence.
The game also saw Gary Neville’s return to first team action after a calf strain had prevented him from playing in the previous matches, and he too was on fine form with some excellent run down the right wing and sometimes you would wonder if this guy really is 31-years-old?.
Tottenham featured the slimmer Mido and Robbie Keane in attack which meant that Jermaine Defoe had to settle for a spot on the bench.Martin Jol was a little nervy especially since it was conformed before the game that teenage sensation Aaron Lennon had a knee injury that would require surgery, that was bad news indeed, not for Spurs alone but for England as well.
Mido and Michael Dawson had a hatful of chances but they faile to take them and even Defoe who came on for Keane in the second half was guilty of missing what seemed like an easy chance to level the game.
But the day belonged to 32-year-old Ryan Giggs who not only scored the winning goal but was impressive throughout the entire game.
Sir Alex Ferguson hailed evergreen Ryan Giggs as ‘one of the greatest players of all time’ after the Welshman helped preserve Manchester United’s best start to a Premiership campaign, and he is the only player to score in every single season since the conception of the English Premier League.
