Manchester United found themselves in the winning track again after soundly beating a very poor Newcastle United 2-0, in fact United should have capitalised on Newcastle’s form and score even more goals but in the end two goals from the rejuvenated veteran Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was enough.
United were pretty much in control of the whole game but found it extremely hard to unlock the Toon’s defence with Steve Harper making a string of fantastic saves, but he was finally beaten in the 41st minute after an impressive Cristiano Ronaldo shot hit the post only to bounce back to an unmarked Solskjaer who couldn’t believe his luck and slotted the ball home as cool as you like.

Cristiano Ronaldo was really on fire today has he tormented the Newcastle defence and in particular Stephen Carr down at the left flank who had a torrid time trying to mark the number 7.
Ronaldo was unlucky as he managed to hit the woodwork 3 times but failed to find the back of the net and he deserved to score a goal especially after all the stick that has been hurled at him.
Sir Alex will be pleased to see his side finding their winning boots again but he will probably be really concerned of the recent form of Wayne Rooney who again has failed to find the net and really only had an average performance today, Sir Alex and United fans will also be worried of the fitness of Gabriel Heinze who has to be susbtituted in the 31st minute after taking a knock.

The second half as sweet as United would have wanted as Solskjaer again found the net although he would agree that he didn’t know anything about it as he deflected in a volley by Nemanja Vidic.
Vidic by the way had an excellent game in defence and is beginning to form a good understanding with Rio Ferdinand which could only mean bad news for Wes Brown.
England’s head coach Steve Mcclaren would probably be dissapointed in not having the services of Paul Scholes who outshined Scott Parker in the middle of the park,Mcclaren has earlier said that he has already offered Scholes a place in the squad but the ginger head man stuck by his decision not to play for England again, in fact Mcclaren said that Scholes was one of the first players he contacted before naming his first ever England sqaud, but Scholes turned down the offer both times.
In the end United practically strolled past the Magpies who didn’t have much joy at Old Trafford even after bringing on Martins.
United head back to the top of the table with 16 points (same as Chelsea) but are head on goal difference.
