rooney
Sam Allardyce had always preached caution whenever Rooney’s name was thrown at him at any interviews he has done and unlike England’s Steve Mcclaren who prayed for Rooney to start scoring again, Allardyce hoped that Rooney would still fire blanks when Bolton take on Man Utd, but his hopes were firmly squashed to the ground as 21-year-old Wayne Rooney broke his 10 games scoring drought in style, scoring a hattrick.

In the end United ran out of the Reebok Stadium 4-0 winners, with Bolton suffering their worst home defeat since 2002 against……you’ve guessed it..Man Utd.

Ferguson fielded the same team that beat Liverpool last weekend with the exception of Ronaldo claiming back his spot after fully recovering from a virus attack which meant Fletcher was on the bench, although he did make an appearance later on and in fact he was the one who laid the ball for Rooney’s third goal.

United showed their intent of claiming back the top spot after watching Chelsea beat Sheffield United 2-0 right form the kickoff and Rooney was in particularly sensational form with his passes and runs towards the goal, if it had not been for the heroics of Jussi Jaaskelainen Man Utd could have ran home 7 or 8-0 winners.

Giggs and Scholes were also in fine form and tormented the Bolton defence form the start.United went in front just 10 minutes into game after a beautiful lofted ball by Carrick found Rooney who struck sweetly with his left foot into the back of the net,Jussi Jaaskelainen had not chance in the world of stopping the young prodigy from ending his dry spell.

The second goal was beautifully taken too after a twist of good fortune allowed the ball to be played to Rooney’s feet after Ben Haim robbed the ball off Neville and the youngster found the only gap available to curl a shot wide of the nearest defender but inside Jaaskelainen’s left-hand post.

Out of the 4 goals scored today i really apprreciated the 3rd goal and Louis Saha showed what it meant to play as team as he slotted the ball to Cristiano Ronaldo to shoot into and empty net after doing all the hardwork of drawing the defenders and goalie to himself, hats off to Saha for not being greedy.

Up till the 3rd goal it seemed that Bolton still had a chance in the game as they slowly began to perform better as a team but the Ronaldo goal killed off all hopes and Rooney rubbed salt into the wounds by scoring United’s 4th and his 3rd goal of the game.

As i tuned to the television right now i can see Steve Mcclaren is attending the game betwenn Newcastle and Charlton, but what a mistake he has made, he should have watched Rooney breaking his dry spell… ;)
