Chelsea got the better of Barca a forthnight ago and yesterday they carved out a late late equalizer to ensure that the reigning champs go through hell before they can even think of qualifying to the next round in Europe as they held Barca to a 2-2 draw.

The game was full of drama as you would have expected and one particularly tricky one was the yellow card ‘issue’ at first it seemed that Ashley Cole was booked twice but the referee forgot to issue a red card but later (in a split second) the ref said that the first yellow didn’t go to Cole instead it went to Frank Lampard which meant he will miss the next game, quite strange actually because i remember clearly that the referee had shown Cole the yellow first time around and not Lampard.

Deco got things off to a bright start when he scored a beautiful goal from outside the box but Frank Lampard produced a moment of brilliance to level the score after it seemed the midfielder initially miscontrolled a pass from Makelele and was driven wide of goal.

Eidur Gudjohnsen who had been Mourinho’s target for mind games pulled Barca into the lead after some neat work down the left flank by Ronaldinho who made a superb cross and it only needed a touch by Gudjohnsen to ensure that it would end up at the back of the net.

It looked all Barca from then on as they began to impose their lead over the visiting team, winning was on their mind as they badly needed it to leapfrog a consistent Werder Bremen in the group and they were about to do so but Didier Drogba turned party pooper as he scored Chelsea’s equaliser in the dying seconds (93rd minute), the late strike broke the hearts of many Barca fans who were already celebrating a victory but it was not meant to be.

Now Barcelona the reigning champs of Europe MUST win their last two games in the group if they want to make it into the next round otherwise they will be eliminated, maybe not from Europe as they could progress in the UEFA Cup, but i’m guessing UEFA Cup teams are hoping Barca doesn’t pop in ;)
