Man Utd continues to lead the table in the English Premier League but in their latest game they had to come from behind to snatch a 2-1 victory at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United.
Rooney was the hero of the day as he scored not one but two brilliant goals while boo boy Ronaldo missed from just a few yards out even though he had the goalmouth empty and all to himself, what a miss!
Chelsea is up next for United in the Premier League and they too managed to win against West Ham United to make next week’s showdown with United a very delicious one indeed.
Geremi’s 25-yard free-kick curled around the wall and into the goal to secure a hard fought 1-0 win against the Hammers and to ensure that they remained 3 points behind United.A Chelsea win next weekend is always possible but even if they do snatch a victory against Man Utd they would be level on points but still in second place thanks to United’s superior goal difference.
As for pretenders Arsenal they only managed a 1-1 draw against Newcastle but what a strike it was by captain Thiery Henry who put them on level terms after Kieron Dyer had place Newcastle in the lead for large chunk of the game.
Arsene Wenger was pretty pissed of with France’s coach Raymond Domenech who played Henry for the full 90 minutes but only playes Saha and Evra for 45 minutes, but clearly Henry didn’t look jaded as he should be but it’s time they gave him some rest, even a mercurial Henry needs a break.
Can’t wait for next week’s cruncher!
