The highly 17-year-old left-back Gareth Bale has signed for Tottenham Hotspurs for a fee of £5million which could be doubled depending on Bale’s progress.

Man Utd and Arsenal were also after the youngster but Spurs made the more official and quick move to lure him, i don’t think Man Utd need a left-back at the moment as they already have Heinze and Evra and possibly O’Shea, the problem position for United is their right-back position, without Gary Neville Utd simply lacked that attacking and crossing from the right.

Anywayz it seems teams like Spurs and Portsmouth are busy in the transfer market so early in the off season, much more to come of course.

Bale put himself in the spotlight at the start of the season with a stunning free-kick against Derby, followed up with another set-piece against Coventry three days later.

He is the youngest player to be capped by Wales and despite being deployed at full-back so far in his fledgling career, has been tipped to emulate Ryan Giggs if he is developed into a winger.

Spurs boss Martin Jol is looking to strengthen the left flank of his team, so Bale could be played in defence or midfield.
