Man Utd has been linked with a variety of potential transfer targets to complete their buying spree, the likes of Berbatov, Huntelaar, Alfonso Alves, Eto’o and Fernando Torres have been linked with a move to Old Trafford but the latest to join that elite list is Barcelona’s Javier Saviola.
Saviola moved to Spain from River Plate in 2001 but despite an impressive goal-scoring ratio, he never really established himself in the Barca first team.
He was shipped out on loan to Monaco for the 2004-05 season and then to Sevilla last year where he helped the club win the UEFA Cup.
Earlier this season he scored eight goals in six matches in the absence of star striker Samuel Eto’o, but again found himself benched when the Cameroon star returned.
He has a prolific scoring record but somehow has been overlooked by Barca, kinda in the same way Real Madrid overlooked Samuel Eto’o in the past, the good thing about this potential deal is that he is available on a free transfer and Utd might just bite since they have already splash cash on three other new recruits.I for one wouldn’t mine having him on board, he has good scoring record, Champions League experience and would feel a little at home since he did play in the same team as Patrice Evra (Monaco).
