Rafa Benitez is said to be keen on signing relehated Charlton’s Darren Bent since prime candidate Samuel Eto’o has opted to stay at Barcelona.
England striker Bent, 23, hit 15 goals last season as the Addicks battled in vain to survive in the Premiership, however the £14million price tag over him makes the deal highly impossible.
