Chelsea’s 25-year-old Holland defender,Khalid Boulahrouz , has joined UEFA Cup winners Sevilla on loan for a year.I actually think this is a good move by Chelsea, i know many people want to crucify Boulahrouz for his poor showing in Chelsea colours but than again a defender in the Premiership needs more playing time than was given to him, plus it was his first ever season in the Premiership, Chelsea fans will of course remember the penalty he gave away to Arsenal last season but like i said he wa not playing regularly prior to that and was suddenly thrust into action and lots of pressure was on him to perform, we are humans after all.
“Chelsea and Sevilla have reached an agreement for the one-year loan,” read a statement from the Premier League club.
Boulahrouz was expected to provide cover across the Chelsea defence but manager Jose Mourinho often fielded Geremi or Lassana Diarra, both midfielders by trade, at right-back.
Mourinho also has Glen Johnson returning from last season’s loan at Portsmouth to bolster numbers in defence, while Tal Ben Haim has also arrived and Alex could join from PSV Eindhoven before the start of the campaign.
