Jerzy Dudek’s heroics in the 2005 Champions League final for Liverpool was forgotten overnight, for whatever reason it seems that Rafa Benitez just simply wouldn’t let him play anymore and so the 34-year-old Polish Goalkeeper decided not to renew his contract with Liverpool which meant he was a free agent, and while there were rumors that several Premiership clubs were interested in taking him on board the lure of Real Madrid was stronger and today it was confirmed that Jerzy Dudek is now officially a Real Madrid player.
“I thought that I would never play for such a big team after leaving the Reds and that I would never play with such great players again,” he told a news conference after being presented as a Real plaer.
“But when my contract finished and I heard Real Madrid were interested in signing me I was very surprised,” added the 34-year-old, who will reportedly earn 1.5 million euros (2 million dollars) a year.
It’s just as good to say that Iker Casillas will start 100% of the time unless he is injured or tired so i’m pretty sure Jerzy joined Madrid for the $$, and why not? he is afterall 34-years-old and such a deal as this comes very rarely.

You’re joking, right? Jerzey will always be loved and respected by Liverpool fans, but most know that Pepe is just better. He would have probably been our number two this season if he hadn’t thrown a fit to the press about not getting playing time. He would have also played more had he not been so horrible against Arsenal in the FA and League Cup ties. He did finish his Liverpool career with a clean sheet though (against Sheffield United, I think). Carson is better anyhow, but I wish Dudek the best. He will always be a LFC cult hero.
