Although Liverpool took an gratuitous lead, it was Arsenal who thronged most of the pressure in 90 minutes. The most preposterous player in the EPL is Adebayor (or Bloodybayor as I like to call him). He does not deserve a starting role in ANY of the top 5 teams in the EPL and I’m still surprised that Arsene believes in Bloodybayor’s non-existent striking abilities. Personally, I would’ve favoured a Bendtner - Walcott pairing up front.

Liverpool were there for the taking, and they perilously sat back to soak up Arsenal’s dominance. It was working as the 90th minute approached - Arsenal were the better side, but it was at the final third of the pitch that led them down. What Liverpool failed to foresee was, that this is a more determined Arsenal side from last season. This team fights - and they hit the post. TWICE. Carragher is a lucky bloke - on Bloodybayor and Fabregas and the previous weekend against Everton.

Cesc Fabregas

I believe that Liverpool are just a flash in the pan and it won’t be long before they are found out. Torres, has potential BUT he is in the wrong team. Liverpool’s style of play won’t suit a player like him, just ask Morientes. Based on this performance, I don’t see them winning any silverware this season (barring the famous League Cup which seems to be their favorite).

This game only shows how much Arsenal has learned to grapple with stubborn teams who are desperate. Arsenal is learning to be stubborn too. Arsene Wenger’s young gunners have made their point. Like it or not, no team in English football can entertain as delicately as Arsenal, and this match tested their resilience too.

Arsenal have passed their first test. Next Up: Man Utd.
