Everton were so closed to grabbing a draw against Chelsea in their semi-final match at Stamford Bridge but it was not to be as 10 man Chelsea secured a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Shaun Wright-Phillips & Joleon Lescott (og).

Chelsea were dominant in the first-half and a lovely curled strike from Wright-Phillips had seen them go in 1-0 up at the break.

They looked to be cruising in the second-half too until the 55th minute when John Obi Mikel was controversial sent-off for a tackle on Phil Neville.

That gave Everton the impetus to be more adventurous and Yakubu benefited from a Hilario howler in the 64th minute to score a crucial equaliser in his last game before jetting off for the African Cup of Nations with Nigeria.
