Sir Alex Ferguson hailed the win against Reading as the kind of games a club must win to be crowned Champions in the Barclay’s premier League.
Quote:
“You do start to worry as the game goes on and on whether you are going to get the goal and it has taken a lovely flick from Wayne to open them up,”
“Reading really do make you work and I think it is a very important result for us. By the end we were quite happy to get through it.”
United did not have the razor-sharp cutting edge they had displayed in knocking six goals past Newcastle the previous weekend.
“Considering the number of opportunities we had, maybe our decision-making in the final third of the field wasn’t at its best,” Ferguson admitted.
The game it seemed was destined to be a frustrating draw for Utd but Carlos Tevez provided the killer pass to Wayne Rooney who with a brilliant flick scored Utd’s first goal and though United maintain their attacking style it wasn’t till the dying minutes before Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 23rd goal of the season.
