Jose Bosingwa Manchester United have sounded out Porto about the possibility of signing Jose Bosingwa, the Portuguese club’s adventurous, attacking full back, as a replacement for Gary Neville.

Pinto da Costa, chairman of Porto, values the right back, 25, at £18.6 million and United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz is reported to have already begun preliminary discussions with the Portuguese champions about a possible transfer taking place this summer.

Bosingwa, who was born in the DR Congo but whose recent good form has seen him called up by Portugal national team coach Luis Felipe Scolari, is seen as a natural long-term replacement for club captain Gary Neville and the present incumbent Wes Brown.

The player’s recents comments in the Portuguese press about his desire to one day play alongside his compatriots Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani, will have only served to encourage the United manager in his pursuit of the player.

Aston Villa are also said to be tracking the player but honestly i think if United want Bosingwa they wlll get their man simply because of their financial muscle and good relantionship with Porto, if Bosingwa does make a move to Old Trafford, he will be re-united with Anderson and will play alongside Portugese team-mates Ronaldo and Nani.

Born in Congo, he moved with his parents at a very young age to Seia, inner Portugal, in the Guarda district. He was picked as a youth to play in Boavista FC, where he stayed until picked by José Mourinho for his FC Porto squad. Mourinho was not unaware of Bosingwa’s quick, long sprints that often include several dribbling passes over adversaries, often culminating in precise and dangerous crosses.
