I really can’t even post much about the game that ended 2-2 at St.Andrews, Theo Walcott and Mcfadden scored a brace but the talking point was definitely the horrific tackle by Martin Taylor on Eduardo Da Silva.
The Croatian striker was clearly in agony after the tackle from Taylor and his team-mates looked physically ill after the incident which held the game up for eight minutes.
Such was the horrific nature of the injury that Sky television refused to broadcast a replay of the incident until half-time, and even then, they only showed the tackle as it was originally broadcast without any close-ups or slow motion replays.
After the incident an eerie atmosphere surrounded the ground as the Arsenal players struggled to get their heads back into the game.
Taylor was immediately sent-off by referee Mike Dean, but despite playing with an extra man, Arsenal went in at the break 1-0 down after McFadden curled home a free-kick.
However, two goals from Theo Walcott in a five minutes spell just after the break looked like it was going to be enough to put the Gunners eight points clear before Gael Clichy brought down Stuart Parnaby deep into stoppage time.
MY best wishes to Eduardo for a speedy recovery, he didn’t deserve this, as no one does, and it’s a sad thing that he will not play in EURO 2008 for Croatia after all the work he has put in.
Video (please be adviced that it’s pretty painful to watch from 3:18 onwards):
***UPDATES:
Taylor: Eduardo Tackle Not Malicious:
Birmingham central defender Martin Taylor has insisted there was “no malicious intent” in his tackle which has left Arsenal striker Eduardo with a suspected broken leg.
Eduardo, who will be 25 on Monday, was stretchered off after Taylor’s third-minute challenge in the 2-2 draw at St Andrews and was immediately taken to hospital.
Arsene Wenger has withdrawn comments calling for Birmingham defender Martin Taylor to be banned for life.

this is the first i have seen of the “tackle” & as a liverpool and football fan I am very suprised to agree wth Mr Wenger. This is not a tackle but an assault, the most horrific injury i have seen, and we had Mr Cisse get a few bad breaks, but this is criminal. My thoughts are with Eduardo i hope an prey he makes a recovery
