With Manchester United currently lacking in the fire-power department, one of the strangest transfer rumours of the summer has to be the link between Thierry Henry at Barcelona. Although this started out in one of the Sunday papers, which are notoriously bad for bending the truth, it appears that there may actually be some truth behind the story. When asked about being linked to Henry, Sir Alex Ferguson who is usually quite coy when it comes to transfer targets, didn’t actually deny the link. Perhaps he is just trying to mount pressure on Tottenham, who may be playing hard-to-get in regards to the sale of Dmitar Berbatov.

Meanwhile in another of the strangest transfer rumours of the season, Chelsea flop Claudio Pizarro has been linked to Premiership newcomers Hull City. Apparently Hull manager Phil Brown has made contact with Chelsea regarding a season long loan for the Peruvian striker, but this is as far as the discussions have gone so far. A more likely destination for Pizarro would be back to Argentine club River Plate, who are believed to have made enquiries about the striker.

The other Premiership newcomers West Bromwich Albion have announced the signing of central defender Abdoulaye Meite from Bolton for a fee of around £2million. The 27 year old defender spent about 2 years at Bolton after moving from Marseille in 2006. WBA newboy Meite is the clubs 8th signing of the season along with the likes of Scott Carson, Roman Bednar and Luke Moore.

Finally it appears that Didier Drogba has had no luck in finding a new club to join, and so has decided to state his future to Chelsea. In a move not too disimilar from Emmanuel Adebayor’s at rivals Arsenal, it appeared that Drogba would be on his way out of the club at the end of the season when stating that he would welcome a move to AC Milan or Real Madrid. Obviously neither of these clubs were interested in the Ivory Coast forward, and so Didier has decided to spend at least another season in West London.
