White Hart Lane’s Spanish revolution took another step forward with the announcement of the signing of Sanchez Cesar from Real Zaragoza. The 36 year old ex-Madrid keeper is expected to be back-up to other summer signing Heurelho Gomes. Tottenham recently came close to signing Stephen Bywater from Derby, but they pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute after seeing Bywater in action during his medical.

Having already sold their previous number 1 keeper Paul Robinson to Blackburn Rovers for £3.5million, Ramos obviously felt that Spurs needed some cover, and in Cesar they will have a more than adequate, experienced back-up keeper.
