Gareth Bale has signed a new contract… meaning he will be staying at Tottenham Hotspur for one more year. He will be tied to the club until 2012 now, instead of 2011. Although we don’t really see the point in this 1 year extension, maybe it was to cover some of the previous clauses in his old contract, or simply because he wanted to increase his wages (although he doesn’t really seem that sort of player).

Manchester United are again being linked to Berbatov in todays papers, with the London Evening Standard stating that he will be signed for £28 million. The paper goes on to say that he is due to take a medical at Old Trafford, before being officially unveiled in the next few days. If true it does make it appear that the Thierry Henry story was simply fabricated in order to put pressure on Tottenham, who are unlikely to want to keep such a prized asset when his heart is obviously elsewhere.

Chelsea have also announced that they will be making a ‘major announcement’ today at a conference at 5pm. Sky Sports claim that there are 3 options - either Didier Drogba/Frank Lampard will announce his intention to stay at the club, or they will unveli a new signing. We believe it is most likely to be Drogba announcing he wants to stay with Chelsea.
