Quite suprisingly (in my opinion), Santa Cruz has ended speculation linking him with a move to Man City by signing a new 4 year contract at Blackburn Rovers. Cruz will now be set to stay with the club until 2012, ending any possible interest from the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal, Tottenham, Villa and Man City.
Meanwhile Manchester City have completed the signing of Vincent Kompany on a 4 year deal from German club side Hamburg, seemingly allowing Verland Corluka to make his move to Tottenham Hotspur.
West Bromwich Albion have completed the signing of Borja Valero for a club-record £4.7 million. The 23 year old Spaniard signs on a 4 year deal, and has brought the total spend by WBA this season to £20 million. I’m still not convinced that they’ve brought in enough quality to keep them in the Premiership this season…
It’s also looking less likely that Man Utd will get Berbatov after Ferguson stated that he is feeling less optimistic about completing any signings before the end of the transfer window, stating that he is still trying to work on bringing in one player (probably Berbatov still).
