According to the latest Spanish reports, Manchester City have made another record-breaking bid for Brazilian forward Robinho, believed to be in the region of £32 million. It was believed that Robinho was holding out for a move to Chelsea, but now that City have made an offer that meets Madrid’s valuation, it appears that Robinho will have to have urgent talks with City before the deadline in just a few minutes time. Real Madrid have offered Valencia around £40 million for David Villa as an instant replacement, although it seems that Valencia are not willing to sell their star striker.
Liverpool have completed the signing of Albert Riera, and Espanyol have signed Steve Finnan. Sunderland have signed former player George McCartney from West Ham for an undisclosed fee, and Higginbottham has left the Stadium Of Light and has re-joined Stoke City. Hull City have completed the signing of striker Daniel Cousin from Rangers, again for an undisclosed fee.
Dmitar Berbatov appeared to be heading to Manchester City at one point today, when Spurs accepted their £30+million offer, but he has now been spotted at Old Trafford and has also agreed a medical. It remains to be seen whether he has yet agreed terms with United, although Spurs may also be holding the deal up by refusing to allow the player to speak with Man United.
