Former England and Spurs manager Terry Venables has come out today and blamed sulky Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov for his ex teams dreadful start to the season.

Venables has told The Sun that he thinks that the Bulgarian’s behaviour at the beginning of the season has unsettled the whole squad. Venables said, “Berbatov kept telling us he had ‘a dream’. Well, good for you Dimi. You had a dream with a few extra noughts added to your bank balance.  But did Spurs have a dream too? You got your way but your poisonous presence at the start of the season - the brooding and the reluctance to play - has cost the club that believed in you.” This is interesting from Venables. The striker was a disgrace at the beginning of the season. He usually had a face of a child who was told he was not allowed any sweets by his mum. Although Spurs were ridiculous in letting both Dimi and Robbie Keane go without a direct placement, was it a good move to get rid of Berbatov?

Berbatov, 27, is captain of the Bulgarian national football team. In the 2003–04 season he scored 16 goals in 24 starts for Bayer Leverkusen. The following two seasons he scored 46 goals making Spurs buy him. He scored 23 goals for each of the season he was with Spurs. However, at times he seemed more interested by getting his hair typed back properly than the game. He is undoubtedly a great player. This season is was obvious to all around that he didn’t want to play for the London club. He finally got his way before the end of the transfer window and got his ‘dream’ move to Old Trafford. He hasn’t scored for Man Utd yet. A lot of Spurs fans will hope he never does.
