How to pick a perfect Premier League Fantasy Football Team

footy news blog

With pre-season now in full flow, it’s time for football fans to put their managerial caps on and start assembling their fantasy squads for the new season.

So to make sure you get a head start on your mates, here are a few tips to finish top of the table come May 15.

1.Pick an attacking formation.

One of the best formations for fantasy football is 3-4-3, it’s probably not a favourite with Jose Mourinho but having three out and out strikers will give you the big points. Also, with three at the back, you will not lose as many points if your defence is conceding goals.

2.Keep clear of holding players.

The Premier League has some of the best holding midfield players in the world, but in fantasy football they are not as important. They might add consistency to your squad with appearance points but they are likely to pick up a lot of bookings during the season. Your midfield should be full of wingers and attacking midfielders as they will provide assists and goals. Some of the players who are certain to get you points from midfield are Gylfi Sigurdsson, Yannick Bolasie and Santi Cazorla.

3.Your Front Three

Choosing at least two of the best strikers in the league will separate you from the rest, so the likes of Wayne Rooney, Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa should definitely be on your radar. This may take a chunk out of budget but they will get you the majority of your points.

4.Men in form.

Every year there is at least one player who comes out from nowhere and makes an impact in the Premier League. From Michu to Harry Kane these players will add vital points without breaking the bank. It’s nearly impossible to spot these players before the season starts but they will come apparent after a few games. Therefore don’t be afraid to take a gamble and change your squad early to give you a head start over your mates.

5.Free-kick and penalty specialists.

There are a few players from the Premier League which come under this category and they will add important points to your squad during the course of the season. Leighton Baines is the most popular one as he adds assists and goals to your overall total. However there are some cheaper options around like Aaron Cresswell who is a dead ball specialist for West Ham and Mile Jedinak who is on spot kick duty at Crystal Palace.
