Kick Off : 17:30 GMT
Venue : Goodison Park, Liverpool

A few years ago it would have been ludicrious to even think that Everton could beat an Arsenal side, and yet when Arsenal travel to Goodison Park this Saturday it shows you how far David Moyes has taken the football club when you actually expect Everton to get at least a point from the game. It has been a relatively quiet pre-season for Everton, perhaps due to the clubs efforts of trying to keep hold of star defender Joleon Lescott, with Manchester City trying their hardest to unsettle their English centre back.

David Moyes has failed to bring in many new faces to the club this season around, but he will be hoping to emulate the success of the 2009 season, qualifying for the UEFA cup after finishing the season in 5th place. Again the club are able to make use of Man City’s loan signing Jo, with the Brazilian striker proving to be a big success last season. However in the past few days Lescott has handed in a transfer request after the club initially turned down several big-money offers for the defender from City, and so it remains to be seen whether Lescott will be lining up against Arsenal this saturday.

Meanwhile Arsenal have had quite an active summer, with their frontman Emmanuel Adebayor ending a highly disappointing season by joining the big-spending Manchester City for around £25 million. However with the return of Eduardo from injury, and return to full fitness with Robin Van Persie, as well as Tomas Rosicky returning from a long-term injury, Arsenal fans should have plenty to look forward to. Arshavin only showed glimpses of his potential last season when given the opportunity by Arsene Wenger, and he looked very potent when he was given the chance. Theo Walcott will want to have a better season this year with the World Cup finals coming up soon too, and the likes of Jack Wilshere has been in excellent pre-season form, and could be given some first season games now too.

Kolo Toure is another defender that has left Arsenal to join Manchester City, whilst Dutch defender Thomas Vermaelen was signed from Ajax at the beginning of the summer for around £10 million. Arsene Wenger rarely gets it wrong in the transfer market, and he rarely spends big either, so it will be exciting for the fans to check out their latest acquisition if he is fit to face Everton on Saturday.

Many people expect Arsenal to improve on a very disappointing 2009 season, and not many people can really expect Everton to do much better this season around, so I would expect a close, exciting game of football this Saturday when these two teams meet.

My Prediction: 1-2
