Saturday, 24th April 2010
Kick Off : 17:30 BST
Venue : Emirates Stadium, London

The English Premier League game between Arsenal and Manchester City will be played at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday 24th April 2010, kick-off set for 5:30 PM. The Gunners have lost twice to the Citizens this season, by 4-2 in the League competition and by 3-0 in the Carling Cup; however they have not lost playing at home to them since the 1975 campaign. Since the 3-2 first round match loss at Highbury that year, both sides have met 24 times overall with Arsenal winning 18 encounters and six games have ended up in a draw.

Arsenal’s shocking failure against a weak side like Wigan means that they have lost three out of their last three games played, two of them in the Premier League and one in the Champions League, conceding nine goals in that period. If they lose for a third consecutive Premier League fixture, this will represent their worst sequence in League football in the last three seasons, since they lost to Everton, Liverpool and West Ham, between March 18 and April 7 of 2007.
Arsenal reports that goalkeeper Manuel Almunia should return but Thomas Vermaelen, Cesc Fabregas, Aaron Ramsey, William Gallas, Kieron Gibbs and Johan Djourou are out.

Manchester City lists Sylvinho (calf) as doubtful. M Johnson and Petrov (both knee), Lescott (hamstring) are currently injured and will not play on Saturday’s fixture.

Arsenal Vs Manchester City

A victory against the Gunners on Saturday would get the Citizens back on track in the campaign while an Arsenal victory would secure the Gunners a spot in next season’s Champions League and put them well on course to clinching the third in the EPL, thus avoiding an even more awkward finish. The story is Adebayor’s controversial behaviour in the reverse contest earlier this season. The former Gunners striker is likely to get a hostile reception from the Emirates fans.

The former Togo international, who curiously enough scored his last league goals for Arsenal in this same match up last season, has been told in quite clear terms by his captain and another ex-Gunner player Kolo Toure to “show more intelligence” in Saturday’s game and avoid creating problems with the fans. His side will need to show intelligence on the pitch because, as noted before, Manchester City have not been able to win away at Arsenal since beating them 3-2 at the old Highbury in October of 1975

My prediction: 1-1
