Bayern Munich Sign Mario Mandzukic

Mario Mandzukic, on the back of an excellent performance for Croatia in the Euro 2012 Championships, has been signed by Bayern Munich from VfL Wolfsburg for an undisclosed fee.

Mandzukic managed to score twice in Croatia’s opening game against the Republic of Ireland, and then managed to find the goal once again against Italy. Croatia unfortunately failed to make it out of the group stage, with Spain and Italy qualifying from their group instead.

Bayern Munich will be hoping to improve on the disappointment of last season, in which Borussia Dortmund won the title, and the cup, and of course Chelsea pipped them to the Champions League trophy winning on penalties. Mandzukic had been at Wolfsburg for 2 years, having signed for about 8 million euro’s from Dinamo Zagrebin 2010. He managed 20 goals in 56 appearances for Wolfsburg. He’s comfortable playing on the wing as well as up front, but at his 6 foot 1 height he’ll most likely be played up front alongside Olic, Gomez or Muller.
