Man United Sign Robin Van Persie

Breaking news (well 3 hours ago anyway), as reported on Twitter by a BBC Sports journalist Man United and Arsenal have agreed a fee for the transfer of Robin Van Persie. Van Persie will join United subject to passing a medical, with the fee apparently in the £24 million region.

Feedback generally from social sites seem to consist of over-joyed Man United fans, surprised that they’ve spent so big and got such a talented striker as RVP when perhaps a central midfielder is more of a priority. Arsenal fans as expected are heartbroken yet were probably already consigned to losing him due to his recent statements regarding his position at the club. But they’re also happy for the whole saga to be over.

The jokes have been rolling in thick and fast on Twitter and the suchlike, with United’s frontline being described as Fatman and Robin (picture below).

Others have also suggested that Van Persie’s likely to fail the medical on account of a back injury due to carrying the whole Arsenal team for the past 12 months…
