Arsenal's New Stadium – Emirates Stadium

footy news blog

No more Highbury for Arsenal as they move in to their brand spanking new 38,500-seater,£390million new home – The Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger said ” It’s a fantastic stadium and it needs a fantastic team. We believe we have a great team here and we want to challenge for the title and the Champions League. We also want to add one or two players.”

Well the new stadium looks really good and i’m glad they have made a move as Highbury was sooo small and compact in my opinion, players basically had to bang into the advertisement boards if they couldn’t stop in time..that’s how small the stadium was!.

And while some fans described the move as heartbreaking before it happened, they’re thinking differently now they’ve had a chance to inspect facilities which get their first taste of action on Saturday with a tribute match between Arsenal and Ajax to mark the retirement of star striker Dennis Bergkamp.

Some more facts about the new stadium:

# It needed more than 9,300 construction workers.
# 55,000 cubic meters (1.9 million cubic feet) of concrete.
# 15,000 square meters (161,459 square feet) of glazing.
# More than 2,000 doors and 100 flights of stairs.
# More than 900 toilets and more than 370 meters (1,214 feet) of urinals.
