Chelsea Agree Deal for Felipe Luis

Chelsea have agreed a fee with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of left-back Felipe Luis. The fee, expected to be £12.6m, will see Luis join Chelsea on a six year contract.

The Brazilian will now discuss personal terms and undertake a medical at Stamford Bridge.

The 28-year-old won La Liga with Atletico last term and reached the Champions League final, and is expected to take the place of the departed Ashley Cole.

Whilst Azpilicueta has dominated the left-back role in the 2013/14 season Luis’s experience may see him slotting straight into the first team, with Azpilicueta moving back to his preferred right-back position.

Felipe Luis joins his Atletico teammate Diego Costa in his move to Chelsea and the two will appear together in the same team once again.

The addition of Diego Costa also appears to have sparked an imminent move for Demba Ba, who looks set to leave Stamford Bridge in favour of first team football at Besiktas.
