Avram Grant was sacked after a poorly performing season when Chelsea only finished second in the Premiership behind Manchester United, and could only manage a poor runners up spot in the Champions League.
Feelings of deep failure must now undermine Aram Grant’s confidence about his ability to manage a top flight club. It would have been interesting to see what excuses, if any, the Chelsea board would have come up with if indeed Chelsea had landed the Champions League Trophy.
Avram Grant took a poisoned chalis when accepting the job at Stamford Bridge. Anything but a 100% record in all competitions would have been enough for Grant to be shown the door, and even then, had they achieved such a feat, comments would have been raised about his lack of charisma on and off the touchline.
Frank Rijkaard appears to be the favourite for the post after his heroics with Barcelona. Very much in the style of Jose Mourinho, he seems to be the man that Chelsea are looking for, a man of style over substance.
Avram Grant for Real Madrid possibly…sounds like a role with more job security.

Too true. They did the same with Ranieri to make way for Mourinho. Back then, the fans were peeved at the club’s treatment of Ranieri. Now, after a couple of years of prosperity, the fans were baying for Grant’s blood given the club’s ‘lack’ of success.
