Liverpool has been busy in the transfer market this season and i’m sure the fans have higher expectations for the 2007/08 season however they really didn’t look all that yesterday in the game againt Aston Villa. but they manage to carve out a 2-1 win thnaks to an own goal and a superb Gerrard free-kick.
Martin Laursen’s own-goal gave Liverpool a deserved first-half lead, and though their incisiveness in attack disappeared somewhat in the second half, they rarely looked troubled in defence.
A penalty given against Jamie Carragher for handball changed all that as Barry levelled the scores, though Gerrard ensured his side started the season on a high moments later.
