Bolton have confirmed that have made an £8million bid for Fenerbahce’s Nicolas Anelka.
Anelka however as you will know is no stranger to the Premiership after having spells at Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.
Most of his fans will point out that his time with Arsenal was the time that he really showed who he was as a player, especially in the 1997-98 season when he broke into the Arsenal first team mainly because Arsenal legend Ian Wright was out with injuries.
He took his chance well and lead Arsenal to that glorious Premiership and FA Cup double success that season., and to think that he costs Arsene Wenger a mere £500,000 a year earlier from Paris Saint-Germain.
Sam Allardyce has indeed taken this into consideration and is delighted that such a player would agree a move to the Reeok Stadium,Allardyce of course is known to bring in ‘past’ superstars and the capture of Anelka is a good thing indeed.
However the deal is NOT confirmed as Bolton has pointed out that “we can’t quite get the president of Fenerbahce to put the rubber-stamp on it”.
I think the deal will be completed soon enough, especially after Bolton allowed Mexican Jared Borgetti join Saudi club Al Ittihad , even Anelka is optimistic and it is rumored that Bolton are offering him a four-year contract.
This is what Anelka had to say about his impending transfer:
“My wish is to return to the Premiership and it’s about to materialise,” Anelka told L’Equipe.
“My desire to join this club is very strong and I hope everything will be sealed at the start of this week.”
** a little trivia:
Nicolas Sebastien Anelka converted to Islam in 2002 and took the Muslim name Abdul-Salam Bilal.bet many of you didn’t know that did you?
