Kick Off : 16:00 GMT
Venue : The Emirates, Arsenal

The still powerful Arsenal side meets the solid Chelsea squad at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday 29th November at 4:00 PM. Those commenting on the upcoming clash expect a closely fought affair, where even a draw seems as a possible outcome. Curiously enough, given their performance this season, a draw between the two squads is unlikely. Looking at the recent statistics, the Gunners have had setbacks but this young Arsenal team’s ability to rise to the challenge has been tested before. Looking strictly at the games between these two sides played in the Premier League since the 2000/2001 season, Arsenal have only failed to score at home against Chelsea once. Contrary to what the news out of Chelsea reported a week or so ago Carlo Ancelotti’s side will not miss the key players that were supposed to be out of the line-up as previously rumoured. Striker Didier Drogba and midfielder Frank Lampard will both be fit and ready to face the Gunners.

As for Chelsea’s current shape, they are currently leading the Premiership comfortably and have qualified for the knockout stage of the Champions League.

Arsenal is looking forward to see William Gallas recovered from his eye injury. Mikael Silvestre and Philippe Senderos are the alternative, but it would not be rare to see Alex Song as a defender.

It is also possible that Emmanuel Eboue will start on the left side of the defence as Kieran Gibbs still is unavailable, but Eboue is the most experienced player to fill the gaps in the Gunner’s back. Traore was not convincing against Sunderland in the last EPL match and Sunday’s could be too big of a game for him. In midfield, Denilson should start if Alex Song plays and goes at the back, if not, perhaps a more offensive midfield will be Arsene Wenger’s choice, just like against Sunderland, but with some noticeable differences. It is apparent by now that Carlos Vela is not a striker, his preferred position seems to be on the left and that is where he could start the game.

On the right side, Samir appears to be in a better fitness level than Tomas Rosicky. Finally, the time has come for Andrey Arshavin to perform in the big stage. He must have a huge game on Sunday, in order to put the doubts about his quality to rest once and for all.

My Prediction: 3-2
