This Premier League game between Arsenal and Liverpool will be played at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday 10th February Feb 10 2010, kick-off set for 7:45 PM. In the two previous meetings between both sides this season, Arsenal have won both fixtures by a 2-1 difference, first in the context of the Carling Cup at the Emirates in last October, then in December at Anfield, where Andrei Arshavin scored the winning goal. That was the Russian’s fifth goal in two games against Liverpool.
But now Arsenal have gone three English Premier League games without a win, their worst streak since a year ago when they drew in five successive matches. Liverpool on the other hand, have gone seven Premier League games without a loss, their best unbeaten sequence since the end of last season when they won 10 games and drew just one of their final 11 fixtures.
Arsenal reports that Nicklas Bendtner and Tomas Rosicky could be recalled to Arsenal’s starting line-up but Eduardo and Robin van Persie are still missing from the squad.

Benitez is still without Fernando Torres after the Spaniard picked up a knee injury in last month’s FA Cup defeat against Reading. Yossi Benayoun’s rib continues to cause concern.

In sharp contrast to Arsenal’s current disappointments, Liverpool will be flying high after another Merseyside derby win over traditional rivals Everton on Saturday. A 1-0 win, thanks to Dirk Kuyt’s 50th Liverpool goal, clinched the hard-earned three points as they further aided the efforst aiming at a top-four challenge and they look to be regaining competitive form at the right time of the season. They have picked up ten points from the last 12 in dispute without conceding a goal and life at Anfield is beginning to look a little better with boss Rafa Benitez, at least for now, breathing much easier.
For the first time in many months, the outlook at Anfield is quite rosy. An early Champions League exit and some woeful autumn performances saw a Liverpool side dropping as low as eighth in the table and it was crisis time once more on Merseyside. However, Benitez’s side have not been beaten in the Premier League since losing to Portsmouth at Fratton Park in last December and that impressive run needs to continue if this newly gained confidence is to be maintained by the Reds in the future.
My prediction: 2-1
