The midweek Premier League game between Aston Villa and Manchester United will take place at Villa Park on Wednesday 10th February 2010, kick-off time is 7:45 PM. Aston Villa’s victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford in last December was their first at that venue in 26 years and now gives Martin O’Neill’s side the opportunity to end another record that has stood considerably longer. The last time Villagers completed a league double over the Red Devils was 55 years ago, so the dress rehearsal for the Wembley finals later this month has an added significance for O’Neill’s lads.
Although the Irishman sure knows that Gabby Agbonlahor’s solitary goal, which defeated United’s colours two months ago, has been a particularly irksome thorn in the side of Sir Alex Ferguson and football revenge is something he knows the Scot does particularly well. For all his praise of Villa’s success at the time and talk of them being outsiders for the Premier League title, Ferguson will have made it one of his priorities to teach the upstarts a lesson and less than three weeks before they meet in the Carling Cup final would be a perfect moment to do so.
Villa informs that Heskey (groin) is injured. Harewood (foot), Reo-Coker (ankle) and Warnock (shin) are listed as doubtful.

Man united reports that Vidic (nerve problem in leg) is doubtful. Hargreaves (knee) and O’Shea (thigh) are out of the lineup.
Ferguson thinks this might be a dress rehearsal for the first domestic final of the season but all Sir Alex will be interested in is getting the three points his side need to maintain their challenge for a fourth straight EPL title. This is the time of the season when few, if any slip-ups will be tolerated from Ferguson, especially with Chelsea showing few signs of letting up. .
Man United are in fine form themselves, however and last weekend’s demolition of Portsmouth showed they are determined to chase Carlo Ancelotti’s side all the way to the end. A major bonus for Ferguson has been the great form of Nani, who is starting to come out of the shadows of fellow Portuguese countryman Cristiano Ronaldo. Ferguson believes the Portugal international can now have a significant role on United’s final third of the season, a critical period of the tournament in which defender Wes Brown admits there can be no mistakes.
My prediction: 1-2
