Man City travel to Birmingham for Sundays afternoon kick off having only managed a draw in their last Premier League outing against Fulham, where they let a 2 goal lead slip at home. Manager Mark Hughes will be expecting his multi-millionaire side to pick up all 3 points when they play Birmingham at St Andrews.

Meanwhile Birmingham City find themselves in 15th place in the league with 10 points from 10 games, and if they won today they could go up to 12th position level with Wigan Athletic. Birmingham’s last league game ended in a 3-1 defeat by Arsenal, and they haven’t won in the league for 5 games, when they beat Hull 1-0 away from home several weeks ago.

After an excellent start to the season Man City’s form has slumped, with the team only managing to draw in their last few league outings.

If they had won all their games in hand a few weeks ago they could have gone to the top of the table, but now if they win their 2 games in hand they can rise up to 3rd position, 1 point behind Man United.

The added spice would have come to this game between Birmingham and Man City if on-loan City keeper Joe Hart would have been eligible to play, but he will have to sit this one out on the sidelines. Hart wasn’t needed by City with the signing of Shay Given and so was loaned out to Birmingham City, and he would have been desperate to perform well against his current employers. Goalkeeper Maik Taylor will instead start in goal for Birmingham.

This should be an exciting game between Birmingham and Man City although I would expect City’s class to come through and expect them to dig out the points in what will probably be a very tricky game for Mark Hughes and his Manchester City side.
