The traditionally strong Red Devils will welcome the visit of Everton to Old Trafford for Saturday’s evening clash of Man U vs Everton, hoping to regain confidence and get back to its winning ways. Manchester United was defeated by Chelsea 1-0 in their last league match, after John Terry scored the only goal of the game with just under 15 minutes of time remaining on the clock. The contested match was otherwise a very closely fought affair that could have been won by either side. Before the loss in the match against Chelsea, Man U’s defence gave up a quite uncharacteristic score of three goals to the Russian side of CSKA Moscow visiting Old Trafford in the latest round of Champions League play. The match finished in a 3-3 draw, but after two consecutive games without a win, Manchester United will look to pick on the struggling Toffees side in this weekend’s match up.

Wayne Rooney continues to show his power and confident football for both his club and the national squad.

The former Everton striker may well want to be the one who puts his old club to rest.

On the other side, Everton finally recorded a much needed victory against West Ham two weeks ago. However and out of tradition, the Everton side usually does well against the Hammers and this time, despite having a depleted squad, the old trend held true.
The win over West Ham was Everton’s first victory in the Premier League since last September. The injuries have haunted David Moyes’ squad this season, yet again, as the Scottish boss has been without some of his team’s key figures for an extended period of time.

Players like Mikel Arteta and Phil Jagielka have yet to play for Everton this year, while Steven Pienaar has been out of competition for most of the season. To make matters even worse for the Toffees, Jagielka’s latest update indicates that he has suffered complications in his process of rehabilitation from a knee injury and will be likely out of the squad until the New Year.

Additionally, Everton’s 21-year-old striker Victor Anichebe has also suffered a setback in his return to play back from a knee injury. It’s clear that the difficulties are mounting for the Everton side ahead of their visit to Old Trafford and Man United will surely not want to lend a helping hand to the weakened Toffees.

My Prediction: 3-1
