Venue : Britannia Stadium, Stoke-on-Trent, England

The English Premier League game between Stoke City and Arsenal will take place at Britannia Stadium on Saturday 27th February 2010, kick-off set for 5:30 PM. Manager Tony Pulis’ side, Stoke City, have not been beaten in the EPL tournament since the defeat to Birmingham in last December, that is a run of seven successive games without a loss. If one takes into account Stoke’s FA Cup success in recent weeks, the official tally shows a total of 11 consecutive games unbeaten in all competitions.

Such an impressive run has seen them pull 11 points ahead of the drop zone, lifting them to the 11th place in the Premier League table. Now, playing on their favoured home turf, they will like their chances of extending their solid streak against Arsenal. The North Londoners form has been inconsistent to say the least. In fact Stoke outplayed Arsenal to secure a 3-1 win on their last head-to-head natch, knocking Arsene Wenger’s side out of the competition and ending Arsenal’s own unbeaten run.
Stoke reports that Abdoulaye Faye and Andy Wilkinson are available after suspension. Danny Higginbotham has a back injury. Matthew Etherington is also injured.

The Gunners report that William Gallas should be back in defence but Andre Arshavin remains doubtful. Kieron Gibbs, Robin van Persie and Johan Djourou are all out.

Stoke City Vs Arsenal

It will be, no doubt, a tough encounter for the Gunners who go into this weekend’s game six points behind the EPL leaders Chelsea with only 11 games of the season remaining to be played. The tough defeats against the Blues and Manchester United few weeks ago appeared to have all but ended Arsenal’s title hopes for yet another season but, with no leading team being able to put together a string of consistent wins, Arsene Wenger’s side cannot be considered out of the race.

The Gunners have responded to those tough losses in form by beating Liverpool and then Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium as they continue to soldier on in the quest for their first English Premier League title in six years. Indeed Arsenal will attempt to keep their title push on course at Stoke City’s home turf but Wenger’s lads will not find it easy to conquer a motivated Potters side that has not lost a league game thus far in 2010, a fact that not many Gunners fans seem to be aware of.

My prediction: 1-1
