The Club v Country row has surfaced again after Arsenal’s Theo Walcott dislocated his shoulder during England training. Arsenal are now wanting 200 thousand pounds in compensation.
Another player who was injured during International duty is Manchester United’s Dimitar Berbatov. It looks like Berbatov pulled his hamstring whilst playing for Bulgaria and he could miss United’s Premier League match against Aston Villa this Saturday.
It’s not only English football, which is suffering from the Club v Country row, but many other countries are including Scotland.
The Rangers boss Walter Smith claimed that Barry Ferguson wasn’t fit enough for a Scotland match but he was recalled to the squad.
I can understand why football club managers aren’t happy with International friendly matches being played during November when Leagues and the Champion’s League are getting into full swing and the last thing they need is their top players being injured in a friendly.
I can also see the other side of it, England manager Fabio Capello would have learnt a lot from last nights win over Germany and he will be able to hopefully take that to the next World Cup in South Africa.
This is one of the very few times that I am stuck on a fence when it comes to a football matter, I am a Manchester United fan and I am an English fan and I don’t think I could choose between Club and Country because they are both just as important to me.
I loved England’s win over Germany last night especially considering it was our reserve squad but if a Manchester United player had been seriously injured last night then I wouldn’t have been happy at all because it is a friendly.
Can you choose between your Club and Country, I would love to know your thoughts on this matter.

For me it has to be my country – England, but I can understand when club managers get annoyed when players return with injuries. The club is usually the one which suffers so you can see why some managers get over protective too.
