Probably not very surprising news coming out from Fratton Park in the past few moments with the board stating that Paul Hart has been sacked after refusing to accept a position as a youth team manager at the club, offered by the board.

Portsmouth currently sit bottom of the league and narrowly lost out in the game against Stoke City at the weekend, with Ricardo Fuller scoring the decisive goal in a 1-0 game. Portsmouth have stated that they feel that a change is needed in order to cement their position in the Premier League next season, hence the reason for sacking Paul Hart.

According to recent reports, ex-manager Hart has not rejected the position offered up by the club, so he may very well become youth team manager, but it is definite that he will no longer be manager of Portsmouth.

Avram Grant was the favourite to become manager of the club as he currently holds the Director of Football position, but he and the club have denied that this will be the case.

I feel sorry for Hart after this as he seems to be a top guy and a decent manager, it just seems that it was inevitable that he would lose his position at the club eventually, as he doesn’t really hold the name or reputation as some other managers in the league.
