Many people have been calling for the France v Rep. Ireland game to be replayed, but I’m not too sure if this will be possible. Sure, I think the game wasn’t fair and France don’t deserve to go to the World Cup, but I’m not sure if you can simply decide to replay this match – how can it be considered to be fair, when bad refereeing decisions affect matches all the time, I don’t quite understand how this match can warrant a replay when others don’t.
Personally the only thing I can imagine happening is some sort of disciplinary action, where a group of ex-players can review controversial decisions or matches, and can then give players who are caught cheating massive bans. For example, with Thierry Henry’s handball they could have given him a so-many match international ban, scuppering Henry’s chances of appearing at the World Cup finals. I feel this is the only way to ban cheating in matches – to give players caught lengthy suspensions. If Henry couldn’t play in the World Cup he would be gutted, and France’s chances of winning would be scuppered too, and this sets a good example to other players, teams, and youngsters watching the game. Players will either stop cheating, or they will try their hardest not to get caught.
One thing that I can’t believe regarding the whole Thierry Henry fiasco is the fact that huge news corporations are delivering news based on someone’s Twitter account, who claims to be Thierry Henry – http://twitter.com/thierry_Henry
Recent tweets from “thierry_Henry” include:
“im not the referee… but if i hurt some one im sorry” and “RT It would be fair to replay the game, but its not my decision…”
Now, I’m sorry, but how can a massive news broadcaster like Sky Sports or newspaper groups like The Telegraph and The Mirror base whole stories on this persons tweets on Twitter? Just because their username is thierry_Henry?
Personally I don’t think someone who tweets messages like “beautiful weather outside! Time for football practice…” can even be considered as being a professional footballer. I mean, come on… if you were a professional footballer, who plays football for a living, and are in the later stages of your career, do you really think that you would go and play football outside just because its nice weather? The tweet was done at 2.28am which would be 1.28am time in Spain, so I don’t know whats going on there.
Then theres the fact that the person links to some random, crap social networking site 3 times in just 2 pages of tweets.
Anyway, surely someone like Thierry Henry has better stuff to do than twittering to his couple of thousand followers on Twitter? Wouldn’t he much prefer to be out cheating to win football matches? ![]()

Im not the biggest of fans of Henry but ill give him his due , He admitted to the ref as soon as he done it , he showed he wasnt happy about it after the game and he’s come out publicly tonight saying he thinks it should be a rematch.
Now that being said i think we can pretty much say that although he did it , it was a heat of the moment thing which he instantly regretted . Its now down the the FIFA as to weather they are going to do anything about it.
Another interesting point was Roy Keanes comments in the news today, personally i wouldnt have expected what he said but he does make a good point .
SO will there be a replay or not ? i guess we’ll know by the time the weekend has finished .
If it was England that position then im pretty sure the whole country would be complaining to get a replay.
