Tuesday, 9th March 2010
Kick Off : 19:45 GMT
Venue : Emirates Stadium, London
The Champions League last 16 second leg game between Arsenal and FC Porto will be played at The Emirates Stadium on Tuesday 9th March 2010, kick-off set for 7:45 PM. This is yet another huge game for the Gunners. This time is in the context of the Champions League as Arsenal try to overcome a 2-1 deficit and win over Porto to move into the quarter-finals. Arsenal will have to do it without their leader Cesc Fabregas, while fit-again Manuel Almunia will start in goal. Sol Campbell has also recovered from a groin problem that kept him out of the lineup during the weekend.
With Arshavin, Nasri and Walcott all healthy and ready, Arsene Wenger will have a good squad to send to the pitch. Wenger is sure that there’s always something new in his side’s so he thinks they can innovate and change history. The team has a good chance to make a name in Europe, because they are very young and in a strong position and, of course, they want to win. Scoring away from home is still a massive advantage under UEFA rules and that’s why we are confident we can do it.
For the Gunners skipper Cesc Fabregas will not play the game. Sami Nasri is set to move into the Spaniard’s role while Sol Campbell is set to replace William Gallas.

In FC Porto news, Colombia forward Falcao, Argentine Marian Gonzalez, Uruguay’s Cristian Rodriguez and Brazil international Hulk are all ready to go.
Interesting fact, Porto have progressed in the last 24 two-legged rounds in which they were defending an advantage away from home. Arsenal have only managed to overturn this type of only once in nine attempts. But Porto have lost all six of their games played in London including a 1-0 loss at Chelsea in this season’s group stage and a 4-0 defeat by Arsenal last season.
Porto are not an easy team to beat though, however Arsenal’s speed and passing ability should be the deciding factor in the match. That away goal in Portugal by Sol Campbell was huge and ultimately could be the difference. It is not likely that Arsenal can shut Porto out, but ultimately they will create enough chances to score. The only potential problem for Arsenal is to create a lot of chances in front of Porto’s goal without converting them, hopefully that will not be the case.
My prediction: 3-1

I actually think if Porto are at full strength today, Arsenal have a chance of being knocked out.
Without Fabregas there, it could be a very interesting match. Although since it’s at the Emirates, you should still be favourites.
